Terracotta Vase d’Anduze with Green Glaze Patina 15.75" H x 13.5" Dia
-
n absolutely spectacular terracotta Vase d’Anduze with exceptional aged patina, green glaze remnants, and a beautifully weathered surface.
The Vase d’Anduze is one of the great classical forms of French garden pottery, with origins dating to the 16th century. Inspired by Medici urns, the form is known for its flared rim, rounded body, raised medallion, garland decoration, and long association with French gardens and orangeries.
This example has remarkable surface character, with warm terracotta tones layered with green glaze, pale mineralized patina, oxidation, and natural wear from age and use. Slight variation in size and finish is expected, as these vessels are handmade and develop their own individual surface over time.
