A striking pair of vintage Italian clear glass sconces with deeply molded basket weave surfaces and wonderful architectural texture.
Each glass panel is formed in a mold, a technique in which heated glass is pressed or shaped to capture the raised woven pattern directly into the surface. The result is a highly dimensional relief that bends and refracts the light across the individual “strands” of the basket weave, giving the sconces exceptional depth and luminosity when illuminated.
The clear glass keeps the composition crisp and graphic, while the woven pattern softens the light and gives the pair a distinctly Italian decorative character. Beautiful both lit and unlit, these sconces have been professionally rewired by Heath and Company and are ready for installation.
